At last! Government takes down fake Nigeria Immigration Service website

460

The fake website of Nigeria Immigration Service (http://ngimmigration.org.ng) hosted recently to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians has been taken down.

The fake website was set up to conduct a sham recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and applicants were asked to pay an application fee of ₦1,000.

The authentic website of NIS is www.immigration.gov.ng

Consumer Life Nigeria (consumerlifeng.com) had exposed these fraudsters in a post on its website on March 18, 2016 and also reported to the appropriate regulatory agencies when NIS failed to respond to our reporter’s enquiries or to take any action.

Consumer Life Nigeria advises all those who have fallen victims to report to the police or contact us with the relevant information. Applicants are also advised to be wary of online recruitments so as not to lose their resources to scammers. A simple investigation could help to determine whether the advertisement is genuine or fake.

If you are not sure about the genuineness of an advertisement, you can contact us for proper investigation.

We also thank all those who liked, commented on and shared the post as they were able to alert a lot of people to the scam and thus prevented them from falling victims.
